Apple hints at iTunes overhaul with music journalist job ad
Apple is hinting at an overhaul of its iTunes software with a new job advert for a London based music journalist to oversee editorial output on the platform.
Following hot on the heels of Apple’s appointment of Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe it marks a push to add merchandising promotion to its music offer.
The ad read: “iTunes is looking for an editorial producer with experience across pop culture and a specific expertise in music journalism. The editorial duties focus on writing, editing, managing a sea of freelancers, and working collaboratively with business and content heads to shape and define editorially driven merchandising promotions.”
Apple is currently in process of devising a new music app for release later this year which will feature curated playlists compiled by famous musicians and DJ’s as it integrates functionality from its recent Beats acquisition.
