BBC Worldwide agrees deal to use CBeebies to promote English language schools in Hong Kong and China

BBC Worldwide has agreed a deal with Singapore-based educational publication distributer, Popular Holdings that will see CBeebies branded schools opened across Hong Kong and China.

The English language schools will feature characters and programmes licensed by the children’s channel to attract young children to attend.

According to City AM, Tim Davie, chief executive and director of global for BBC Worldwide, described CBeebies as; “an internationally respected brand” and added that the association was a “natural fit” between the BBC and its aid of teach the English language abroad.

“Working with proven experts to develop a bespoke curriculum, the combination of our much loved characters and rich video content will offer children in China a unique learning experience,” he added.

The schools will initially open in Singapore, before being followed by schools in Beijing, then China and Hong Kong in the coming years, according to the Sunday Times.
