People on the move: new hires at Warner Brothers, Essence, Huge, TBWA, Skrill, Ogilvy & Mather and more

Warner Brothers

Alex Mecklenburg steps down as MD at Huge

John Stanley, managing director of Warner Bros Home Entertainment in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Nordics, is to assume overall leadership of the entertainment groups digital distribution and consumer products divisions in addition to his existing duties.

The management shake-up was announced by Josh Berger, president and managing director of Warner Bros UK, Ireland and Spain, to whom Stanley will report directly.

Huge

Alex Mecklenburg has left Huge London after spending the past year leading the agency as managing director.

“I am moving on from Huge after a fabulous and intense year of helping to build the agency into what it is today. It has been great and I’ve met tons of pretty amazing creative people,” she told The Drum.

She has been replaced by Nathan Weyer, who has joined from Frog where he was VP and general manager for Europe.

TBWA

Omnicom Group has named Tony Ruhanen as the successor to Tom Carroll in the role of president and CEO of TBWA Worldwide, with Carroll remaining as chairman.

Previously responsible for driving cross-agency collaboration for Omnicom’s clients Ruhanen has held several senior management positions within the group; including chairman and CEO, the Americas, BBDO Worldwide.

Kinetic

Kinetic has made a number of changes to its senior planning team, with Mark Smith, currently client services director, moving to the role of planning operations director, while Nicole Lonsdale will continue in her role as client service director with focused responsibility to lead and nurture the planning department.

Gideon Adey, currently business development director will take the role of planning development director, and Roshan Singh has been appointment digital innovations director where she will lead and develop Kinetic Active.

Skrill

David Sear, CEO of mobile joint venture between EE, O2 and Vodafone Weve, has announced that he will take up the new position of CCO at online payment company Skrill.

Sear, who last month oversaw a safe-payment partnership with Mastercard, will join the London-based outfit in August where he will run the group’s commercial operations.

Kommando Group

Scottish guerrilla and experiential marketing Kommando group has appointed Natalie White as senior sales account manager at its social media photo marketing arm PixAngels. White has been tasked with increasing the visibility of PixAngels as a viable tool for brand amplification via photography and social media networks.

Factory TM

Multi-genre production studio Factory TM has recruited award-winning producer Shane Hamill, who will join the company to work on a series of new projects, both in house and client side, including a new commission for Disney.

Hamill has joined Factory TM from Emerald Sky Films where he spent two years working with Sir David Jason producing a number of projects.

Adbrain

Advertising technology company Adbrain has hired Former Xaxis, GroupM, and AOL employee Tim Abraham as director of data platforms.

In his new role, Abraham will work with the company’s London-based engineering team to further expand Adbrain’s data management capabilities and accelerate strategic data partnerships.

Abraham’s appointment follows Adbrain’s completion of a $7.5m Series A funding round in March this year. Adbrain’s beta clients include Annalect (part of Omnicom Media Group Europe), M&C Saatchi Mobile, and The Exchange Lab.

Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne

Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne, part of STW, has boosted its team with two new senior hires as part of its strategy to consolidate its planning and account service divisions.

Belinda Danks-Woodley joins Ogilvy &Mather Melbourne as group account director and Joe Heath as strategy director. Both Danks-Woodley and Heath start immediately. Prior to joining Ogilvy & Mather both Danks-Woodley and Heath were with Clemenger BBDO Melbourne where Danks-Woodley headed the brand, retail and community accounts.

Essence

Digital agency Essence has formed its first ever global corporate executive-management team consisting of Joseph Tomasulo, global chief financial officer, Mark Nancarrow, global chief operating officer, and Claire St Louis, global chief people officer. This leadership evolution comes on the heels of Christian Juhl’s promotion last month to global chief executive officer.

Previously, Tomasulo was the global CFO for the digital agencies within Publicis Groupe, including DigitasLBi and Razorfish.

Nancarrow joined Essence as CFO in 2010 and, in 2013, took on additional duties as COO. In his new role, he’ll be accountable for the agency’s delivery globally. St Louis has been a partner at Essence since 2013. During her tenure, she has built the human resources team from two people to 19 professionals.

HeyHuman and Brave

Creative agency HeyHuman and Brave has brought Helen Weisinger, former marketing partner at Mary Portas on board as chief marketing officer, where she will be responsible for new business development and marketing strategy across the board.

Prior to her role at Mary Portas Agency Weisinger was chief marketing officer at both EDC (Dare/Elvis/Citizen & Identica) and McCann Worldgroup. She acquired her earlier creative industry marketing experience at agencies such as TBWA, Fallon and Saatchi & Saatchi.

Made by Many

Digital product and innovation studio Made by Many has named former IDEO executive, Georgie Mack, as managing director.

Mack joins Made by Many at its London office, having spent eight years at IDEO where she worked on projects from clients including British Airways and IKEA. She has been tasked by the agency to assist the digital product design studio in its next stage of growth – its clients include Microsoft, the Universal Music Group, Skype and ITV.

BETC

French ad agency BETC has bolstered its senior creative team with the appointment of Stéphanie Thomasson as art director and Marc Platet as copywriter.

Thomasson joins from Leo Burnett where she developed campaigns for Charal, Fiat, Jeep and the Mimi Foundation, while Platet previously worked at TBWA on BMW, MINI, Absolut Vodka, and Martell, and, more recently, at McCann for the Nespresso, INPES, Mastercard, Na! and Terre d'Asile accounts.

Affectv

Affectv technology company has announced a trio of new appointments to its executive team in preparation for continued international growth.

Pascal Zähner, former managing director EMEA for Exponential has joined as a senior advisor and will report into the Affectv board to spearhead Affectv's global expansion plans. Tim Brown, co-founder of attribution startup Abakus and former managing director EMEA of Tribal Fusion, has joined the company's Advisory board. Additionally, Paolo Janer, former head of mobile for Exponential UK has become Affectv's head of UK sales.

Rosetta

Publicis Groupe customer engagement agency Rosetta has hired Nicholas Hahn as managing partner to co-lead growth for Rosetta Consulting, a dedicated practice specializing in uncovering and activating human insights and intelligence.

Hahn, who joins from Vivaldi Partners will report directly to CEO Tom Adamski and partner with Managing Partner Jay Lichtenstein to lead global growth and expansion of Rosetta Consulting.

Clock Creative

Clock Creative has appointed a new Digital Project Director, Carolyn Dickson, to support its rapidly expanding digital marketing business.

Dickson, who joins from PZ Cussons International, will be developing digital strategies and campaigns for new projects and supporting existing clients including US pet product company PetSafe, and SME business support service company ClearSky.
