Google is partying like its 1998 in celebration of its 15th birthday after coding a new hidden Easter egg which offers web goers a real blast from the past.

Typing ‘Google in 1998’ into the famous search bar will transmogrify the Google branding into its late nineties look alongside actual search results for the term ‘Google’ as they would have appeared at that time.

In 1998 such a query netted 234,000 results but a similar search today would bring up a staggering 9,450,000,000 results to wade through.

Sadly for nineties aficionados the fun ends there as only the first page of results are displayed and no other search terms will achieve the same effect.

Back in 2013 Google has also incorporated a fun interactive doodle on its homepage, allowing folk to have fun smashing a star-shaped birthday cake.
