Discount clothing retailer Primark has begun selling clothes online for the first time after partnering with online fashion retailer asos on a new digital venture.

Primark is currently one of the fastest growing clothing retailers in the country but has thus far shied away from dipping its toes in digital waters.

Now the firm has evidently decided the time is right to make a move, albeit on a trial period for just a few months with just 20 items of womenswear available

Jason Bason of Primark’s parent company, Associated British Foods, described the move as a ‘fact finding mission’ and stopped short of committing to a full online clothing service.

An Asos spokesman added: “As an online fashion destination, asos delivers an edit of the brands and product that are relevant to its 20-something target market. Primark is part of that mix."
