Behind the windows of this very special Drum adVENT Calendar you’ll find a different member of the creative industry venting their feelings on a Christmas ad, or ads, they love or loathe. Today it’s creative director at Weapon7, Jeremy Garner

One from the present, and one I saw aged eleven in nineteen eighty-two,Each a Christmas truth with a twist (rather like a reindeer going moo). They're oh so simple; they tell it like it isThere’s no tinsel for tinsel’s sake or bubbly without the fizz. The first ad is an old ‘un for Hellman’s Mayonnaise:Use it with leftover turkey, it says, not just as a Summer craze.Bob Carolgees from Tiswas did the voiceover while garnishing the birdAnd sales of the brand were apparently increased by a third. The other one's contemporary, in fact it's on telly these weeks(And incidentally has got nothing to do with filling your beak)Instead it's about the gift of love - as a theme they've gone quite lofty,But in truth it can charm those as hard as nails (like a cone of Mister Softee). It's a bit of an epic, this snowman's journey, for a famous department storeAnd you can tell it will be remembered for many years and moreBecause my eleven year-old daughter is the number one fan for sure.Jeremy Garner is executive creative director at Weapon7. Prior to joining Weapon7 in 2008, Jeremy was the co-founder of two digital agencies in London: Glue in 1999 and BloodPartnership in 2000. In his spare time Jeremy enjoys painting disturbed pictures under the alias ‘Jelly Buckingham’ and writing psychological thrillers under the pseudonym ‘Seth Garner’.McCann Birmingham's Vince McSweeney takes on Louie Spence and Gio Compario' Go Compare offering in 10 December's adVENT.
