Google has announced that it is set to wind down more features this month, including AdSense for Feeds and spreadsheet gadgets, in order to help it focus on products which get used more by customers.

The AdSence tool will begin to be wound down from tomorrow, and closed on 3 December, although FeedBurner URLs powered by Google will continue to function.

Classic search, which allowed users to upload or select images to use as a background on Google, will stop allowing uploads from 16 October and will be turned off in November; while Google storage in Picasa and Drive will be consolidated over the next few months, so users will have five GB of free storage across both services.

Google also revealed that in two weeks’ time, it will stop issuing and displaying Google News Badges, as well as showing recommended sections, but users will still be able to customise Google News for their own needs.

Yossi Matias, senior engineering director discussed these and other changes in a blog post, ending: “We want people to have a beautifully simple experience when using Google. These changes will enable us to focus better so that we can do more to help improve the products that millions of people use multiple times a day.”
