Microsoft is set to run a new TV advertising campaign to promote Internet Explorer this weekend, having teamed with mobile engagement company Shazam.

The ‘Beauty of the Web’ advert, created by Wunderman, will allow viewers to interact through the use of the Shazam app.

Viewers will be prompted to use the app on-air to view exclusive live performances and interviews with Alex Clare, who song ‘Too Close’ features within the advert.

A competition can also be entered to see him perform live.

Supporting the campaign will be out-of-home, digital, TV and print activity, with media planned by UM London.

Paul Davies, head of consumer marketing at Microsoft, commented; “We’re confident that by leveraging Shazam’s reach of more than 11 million people in the UK we will continue to strengthen Internet Explorer’s position as the browser that truly enables people to experience the web in all its beauty. The campaign will build on the growing success of the Internet Explorer brand and show users that Internet Explorer is the best way to experience their favourite sites.”
