The announcement of the launch of the new iPad 3 will be a boost for app businesses across the UK according to the Chelsea Apps Factory boss Mike Anderson.

Anderson, CEO and founder of Chelsea App Factory and former managing director of The Sun, Evening Standard and Metro, has welcomed the imminent release of the iPad 3, announced by Apple at a press conference tonight.

“There’s no doubt that consumers will be queuing around the block to pick up the new iPad when it goes on sale. More and more of us are swapping our laptops for tablets – both at home and in the office,” commented Anderson.

“Brands must have tablet optimised apps – simply porting your iPhone app to the iPad isn’t enough. It’s about taking advantage of everything the new device can do – like using the HD retina display for videos.”

The new device is also certainly going to be a shot in the arm for the apps business,” he added.

“Thanks to this announcement, Apple has consolidated its position as the most requested business tool, setting the bar even higher for BlackBerry and Microsoft in the process.”

The iPad 3 will be launched next Friday on 16 March and is expected to retail at between $499 - $829.
