Apple rumoured to be mulling Hulu bid
Electronics giant Apple is said to be considering mounting a bid for Hulu, the online video service, according to reports in Bloomberg.
The financial services news agency reports that Apple is in early talks to lead an offer for the firm to its current owners – Walt Disney Co, news Corp and NBC Universal, in order to include more video content on its platforms.
In addition this would give Apple 5 years of program rights including 2 years of exclusive access.
This could allow Apple to offer streaming and subscription services to iTunes, augmenting their existing rental and purchase model.
Google, Yahoo and AT&T have all expressed an interest in purchasing Hulu, which could ultimately fetch around $2bn.
