A new story for Doctor Who will take place at MediaCityUK later this year when Punchdrunk Theatre Company stages its Manchester International Festival show based around a story idea by the programme’s executive producer.

The Company has announced that it will stage its new work, based on an idea by Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat, in the BBC’S new MediaCity UK site in Salford.

The ‘immersive’ stage show will be aimed at children aged six to 12 who will be involved with the latest adventure for the Time Lord.

Details of the company’s latest project The Crash of the Elysium had been kept secret, although it is thought to involve a sinking ship.

The show will open on 30 June as part of the festival, with adults only being admitted if accompanied by a child.

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that a seventh series of the revived Doctor Who had been commissioned for next year.
