UberMedia could acquire TweetDeck as it plans to develop Twitter rival
Application developer UberMedia is reported to be developing plans for a social network competitor to Twitter, and is apparently in talks to buy TweetDeck.
According to CNN, UberMedia’s platform would seek to attract users by addressing common complaints made about Twitter, such as its restriction of the length of a message and the confusion it creates to newcomers.
Three unnamed sources who have been briefed with the plans are said to have spoken to CNN about the new platform, with UberMedia already developing apps and online services that run on Twitter as well as other social media tools.
Plans include the acquisition of smartphone and tablet app Tweetdeck.
So far competitors such as Google Buzz and FriendFeed have failed to make much of an impact.
