TweetDeck set for US acquisition
As rumours fly that Twitter is in talks with organisations such as Google about a potential acquisition, it would seem that free software device TweetDeck is also set to be bought over.
The UK based company’s software, which has been downloaded over 20 million times, allowing people to manage their social networking sites, is apparently the subject of a £19 million takeover deal from Californian company UberMedia.
The Financial Times reports that UberMedia is interested TweetDeck, having recently bought several other Twitter tools and services, such as UberTwitter and EchoFon, although neither party would comment on the story.
It is speculated that the deal could be completed by March, with TweetDeck valued at between $25 million - $30 million, despite not yet making ‘significant revenues’, having mainly been funded by investors.
