Rob Nicol, managing partner of PHD North introduces his days as guest editor of The Drum online.

Sure, she tweeted about the trouble she had getting the sleeves balanced correctly once or twice and got some appliqué tips from one of her craft discussion boards, but to me this gift felt like a one-way conversation: she hadn’t properly ‘shared’ at any stage in the process.

She could have at least stuck early concepts on flickr or something, got some feedback in first...

OK, so whilst I’m not being totally honest about my gran’s social networking habits (she’s a Facebook addict all the way...) this year has all been about sharing and developing ideas with others - whether it be two parties sharing power, or closer to home the news of ITV, BBC and whole bunch of creative geniuses about to share MediaCityUK. This year has seen a move away from “one-way conversation” communications – more than ever, every TV show has a voting or interactive mechanic and every ad campaign encourages consumers to participate or pass it on. Expertise, it seems, is everywhere right now, everyone has something to say and the world we live in is becoming ever more fluid in its behaviour.

So in the festive spirit of sharing, my gift to you, the readers of The Drum is to share some great campaigns with you, all of which have benefitted from the power of sharing but also are just bloody good ideas done well.

Funnily enough the jumper was still quite good...
