Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Cohn & Wolfe, Burson Marsellar and McGarvie Morrison Media to promote its insurance and Scottish business.

McGarvie Morrison Media will handle the corporate and public affairs in Scotland.

WPP subsidiary Young & Rubicam, Cohn & Wolfe and Burson Marstellar will operate as ‘Team Y&R’ headed up by Geoff Beattie, global practice leader for corporate affairs at Cohn & Wolfe.

Lloyds' insurance and Scotland team chose the agencies from an initial list of over 20 – with four competing in the final round of pitching in June.

Supporting the in-house media team on media relations and public affairs for Scottish Widows will be the main task taken on by the agencies, as well as the group’s activities in Scotland, chiefly the repositioning of Bank of Scotland.

John Penman, head of corporate communications for Insurance & Scotland at Lloyds Banking Group, said: “We wanted to build on the excellent public affairs and media campaigns that have successfully positioned Scottish Widows as a thought leader over recent years, as well as further developing the Group's profile in Scotland.”
