Peel Media has expressed its delight at the decision by the BBC to move the production of its breakfast programme to MediaCity UK.

Following over a day of speculation, the BBC has confirmed plans to move its morning breakfast show to Salford.

Sinead Greenaway, CEO of Peel Media, said; “We at Peel Media are delighted that BBC Breakfast will be joining us here at MediaCityUK. They bring informative news and features to millions of viewers across the UK each weekday morning and we are pleased that this established network show will broadcast live from Salford Quays. It is a testimony to the BBC's commitment to make their new home here at MediaCityUK a success”.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed managing director of the MPA, Cindy Simmons, also praised the decision saying that she believes this will put Manchester’s media community firmly on the map.

“It’s another positive step forward for the whole structure and infastructure of our media community. This is going be just one of the many amazing shows that are going to be made in Manchester and will really put the area on the map. This is fantastic news and we’re very excited by the whole prospect," said Simmons.

Discussing her thoughts about the MediaCity development as a whole, Simmons described it as a ‘fantastic platform' having toured the site last week.

“It’s going to be fantastic for Manchester," she commented.
