The ‘Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man’ meme first popped up on the internet circa 2011, with the images apparently coming from a 1967 episode of the cartoon titled ‘Double Identity' where a villain impersonates Spider-Man.
Yesterday, the official Twitter account for the movie posted: “Of course, we got THE meme.”

The blockbuster has become the highest-grossing movie of the pandemic era, raking in $1.83bn globally, resulting in it ranking as the top-earning Spider-Man film from the franchise so far.
Homage to the meme popped up during the film where viewers witness three Spider-Man characters point at each, but it was nothing quite like yesterday’s rendition – which has since garnered 65k retweets and over 282k likes.
The latest chapter in the Marvel Universe series drops on digital platforms March 22.
