Cazoo names Darren Bentley as chief customer officer

Used car platform Cazoo has turned to MoneySupermarket's former chief marketing officer Darren Bentley to serve as its own chief marketing officer as it seeks to redefine the secondhand car market.

Bentley will report directly to Cazoo founder and chief executive Alex Chesterman for his new role, where he will carry responsibility for responsible for digital and brand marketing, customer experience and insight and PR.

Bentley said: “I am really excited to be joining Cazoo at this early stage in its journey. The opportunity is huge and I look forward to helping to transform the way people buy used cars in the UK.”

Chesterman added: “I am delighted to welcome Darren to Cazoo. He brings highly relevant experience and insights to the team that will be invaluable as we build and grow the business.”

Armed with a £30m funding pot Cazoo has been beavering away behind the scenes to assemble its team ahead of a formal launch later in the year. Once up and running Cazoo aims to make buying a car as simple as online shopping by delivering the chosen vehicle to your door in under 48 hours.

Chesterman also founded property website Zoopla in 2007.
