Ad veteran Guy Philipson named as new JICWEBS chairman

Formerly the chief executive of Internet Advertising Bureau in the UK, Phillipson is well placed to extend his digital advertising expertise to this new arena, having already served as a Jicwebs board member.

After leaving the IAB, Phillipson also served as head of advertising at Vodafone and chair of digital media agency iCrossing.

Phillipson’s elevation follows the departure of Jicwebs founder Richard Foan.

Phillipson said, “As internet advertising continues to boom worldwide, I’m a big believer in robust and transparent standards for efficient and safe ad trading. So, I’m delighted to be invited to become the chairman of Jicwebs following Richard Foan’s years of sterling work building such a credible and essential organization.”

ISBA director general Phil Smith added: “We now have the opportunity to build on Jicwebs' success to date by extending and reinforcing the self-regulatory regime for our industry. Guy is a great addition to the team and will complement Jules Kendrick’s skills and experience, with the full support of the executive board.”

Phillipson's elevation follows hot on the heels of Jules Kendrick as chief executive.
