Delta has tapped Viola Davis for another campaign film, bringing her assured voice to a message that flight and travel can bring the world and its diverse people together.

‘Close The Gap’ spotlights shared childhood experiences through the eyes of babies and kids from communities around the world. Voiced by Davis, viewers are reminded that “we’re more alike than we are different,” demonstrating how travel can unite people.

The 60- and 30-second spots highlight the power of venturing out into the world to better understand it. The 60 starts by showing a diverse group of babies, wide-eyed and experiencing life relatively the same way. As the scenery changes to views from the air, Davis states: “Somewhere along the way, we start to believe that the more distant we are from each other, the more different we must be from each other…it’s only when we venture out into the world that we realize all the things that we share.”

The spot harkens back to the ‘Runways’ spot, also voiced by Davis, which had long shots and appeared in each to be taking off. The spot ends with Davis saying that we were all “never that far apart in the first place.”

The campaign will run online and on social this year, in addition to Delta’s in-flight entertainment later this spring. The airline collaborated with Wieden+Kennedy New York to bring the campaign to life.
