Bauer Media has turned to Richard Dawkins, a former chief operating officer at BBC Content, to help fuel growth at its European radio division from the spring.

The newly created COO role at Bauer will see Dawkins work in tandem with the existing senior radio management team to pinpoint potential new markets and commercial opportunities throughout the continent.
Paul Keenan, chief executive of Bauer Media UK and European Radio, said: "Richard brings a wealth of experience and knowledge spanning media strategy, operations and change management which will be of immense value as we accelerate the growth of Bauer Media.”
Dawkins added: ”It's a brilliant time to be joining Bauer Media with commercial radio thriving and digital and IP distribution offering new, exciting opportunities for innovation in audio.“
At the BBC Dawkins commissioned and scheduled TV, radio and online content, placing him in good stead to take the lead on Bauer’s own audio business.
Bauer Media has steadily expanded in recent months with the acquisition of Wireless Local, Celador and Lincs stations.
