McDonald’s has returned with an unashamedly traditional Christmas campaign in which Santa can be seen riding into his local restaurant to refuel while on a Christmas Eve parcel delivery marathon.

Building on last year's campaign, Reindeer Ready follows Father Christmas enjoying a mince pie at every house as his hungry reindeer look on, having been apparently forgotten about – only for the golden arches come to the rescue as Santa stocks up on ‘Reindeer Treats’ carrot sticks.

Created by Leo Burnett, the ad builds on last year’s Reindeer Ready campaign which combines TV, out-of-home and social activity with in-store giveaways, decorations and a special festive menu.

Leo Burnett’s chief creative officer, Chaka Sobhani, said: “After last year, we wanted to build even more fun ways to help get the country Reindeer Ready. With a unique and playful Snapchat lens and filters, an exclusive reindeer e-book, Christmas jumper giveaways, Festive branded carrots and the magical story of Father Christmas and his Reindeer, we hope this year’s McDonald’s campaign warms the hearts of the nation and captures a bit of the magical anticipation of Christmas.”

Custom Snapchat filters will enable diners to supplant their own heads for that of a reindeer before attempting to catch as many falling carrots as possible.
