Snapchat has added yet another DIY feature to its app, allowing users to draw their very own filters.

Selfie fans will be pleased to hear that the app's latest update, which also includes personalised Bitmoji integration, comes equipped with an all new 'Face Paint Lens' that lets users draw on their faces to create real-time overlays.

Snappers have been able draw within the app for a long time, but now the pictures they create can now move alongside the images or videos they are placed in front of, meaning illustrations are augmented and no longer transfixed.

The feature also remembers any previous Face Paint Lenses a user has created, effectively giving them the ability to create their and store their own custom filters without having to pay Snapchat to produce them. The quality of the stickers will, however, depend on their artistic talents.

The service has made no secret of the fact it wants to go against the grain of other social networks.

The instantaneous nature of the messaging app means that rough and ready videos and pictures can be quickly shared with friends, with the startup’s vice-president of content Nick Bell, telling The Drum earlier this year that Snapchat wanted to "remove the pressure that social media has created."
