Pinterest looks set on bolstering its chances of effectively monetising the rich flow of goods and content being shared on the site.

Pinterest has secured two acquisitions this month

The virtual pinboard service has snapped up the team behind influencer shopping app Tote, adding them to its growth and monetisation group for an undisclosed fee.

Tote will as a result shut down 15 June, but Pinterest has expressed a greater interest in those behind the app than the app itself.

The team have been helping fashion fans buy looks recommended by trendsetters and influencers, a business model Pinterest could clearly take inspiration from, making use of its communities of leading craftspeople and experts.

Pinterest already has a e-tail spine throughout the service in the form of its ‘Buyable’ pins. It is likely the Tote team will be involved in the wider rollout of this tool.

The company has been busy of late, bloating its talent pool, earlier this month snapping up keyboard app Fleksy.
