Japan has gave witness to what could be one of the oddest sports marketing stunts in baseball by casting horror icons from The Ring and The Grudge against each other.

A Nippon-Ham Fighters game saw the supernatural predators from each movie appear to promote a new crossover film in which the entities will face-off (Sadako vs. Kayako).

Earlier this year English football side Manchester United teamed up with Fox superheroes Deadpool and the X-Men but the club has been upstaged by the unsettling sporting abilities of the Sadako and Kayako.

Promoting the movie ahead of a release in the country later this year, the duo has marketed one of the most unsettling examples of sports marketing in recent memory.

The movie is also being promoted with by a whimsical Instagram account, with the latest picture hinting at the surprise appearance during the weekend.
