Disney announces VR experience that will tie directly into The Force Awakens opening
Disney has announced that it is ready to launch a Star Wars virtual reality experience ahead of the release of The force Awakens next month.
In addition to offering Star Wars fans customizable Chrome themes, Google and Disney’s “Awaken the Force Within” cross-platform promotion has joined forces with Verizon to develop a serialised VR experience designed for Google Cardboard.
A blog post on the Star Wars website says “this first-of-its-kind serialized Google Cardboard Virtual Reality (VR) experience that combines a compelling story, which ties directly into the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with the very latest cutting-edge Virtual Reality technology.”
The episodes were created by ILMxLAB- Lucasfilm's, Industrial Light & Magic's and Skywalker Sound's immersive entertainment laboratory- and will tie directly into the opening of The Force Awakens. They will be available through the official Star Wars app for iOS and Android on 2 December.
