International pizza chain Domino’s has added CEO and co-founder of Quad Analytix Andy Ballard to its board of directors as the company ramps up its digital innovation efforts.

He is also the founder and managing partner of Figtree Partners, a digital media investment firm, and has previously served on the boards of Activant Solutions and Getty Images among others.

David A. Brandon, Domino's chairman of the board, said of Ballard’s appointment: "His expertise in the realm of technology, media and finance will be a tremendous resource to us as we push into new areas of digital consumer innovation.”

Ballard said: "Domino's is a strong brand known for service, great food, and increasingly, for cutting-edge technology. Domino's has blazed a trail with innovations providing customers with new and more convenient ways to order pizza anywhere, anytime, on any device. I'm looking forward to lending my technology and marketing expertise to this great organization as it continues to lead the way with digital solutions."

Domino’s made headlines earlier this year when it announced that it will accept pizza orders via Twitter – to order, consumers just need to tweet a pizza slice emoji to the company.

It also recently rolled out a ‘Pizza Legends’ digital platform in the UK that allows users to choose a pizza base, sauce, and toppings. The company said the feature was part of its efforts to change the personalization process from ‘functional to fun.’

According to Domino’s, roughly 50 per cent of its US sales came from digital channels by the end of last year.
