Bauer Media has launched a native advertising competition on the back of the launch of its new digital media brand, The Debrief.

Competition: Bauer is looking native advertising ideas

The publisher is inviting the submission of “the best native advertising idea in the UK” and the winning entry will have their campaign executed for free on the site, a prize worth £50,000 of advertising.

A statement from Bauer said: “With £783bn to spend this year alone, Millennials will outspend Baby Boomers by 2017 and their buying patterns are completely different to any previous generation.

“This generation grew up with technology and rely on it to perform their jobs better – they are plugged-in 24 hours a day, seven days a week. How we sell to this girl is important too – advertising messages must be authentic, entertaining and relevant.”

Bauer plans to fund The Debrief on a native advertising model, which is a loose umbrella term given to various forms of advertising created to fit more naturally within their editorial environment. It can range from native display advertising to commercial content aligned more closely to editorial content.

Bauer is inviting people to submit their ideas on one side of A4, describing how they would use The Debrief “across all its platforms to deliver clients’ marketing message to the highly valuable millennial audience.”

The campaign should be designed to fit a budget of £50,000 and run for no longer than three months. In addition to the advertising space, the top 10 entries will win an iPad mini.
