Unilever is believed to be exploring the sale of its SlimFast range as it seeks to focus on its core brands portfolio.

The consumer products company, which owns brands such as Flora, Persil, PG Tips, Carte D’Or, Dove and Marmite, acquired the weight loss range, developed by Thompson Medical Company, in 2000 in a £1.44bn deal.

According to reports Unilever is discussing the sale of the brand but may decide to retain the business after reviewing its options.

Although Unilever does not reveal sales figures for its individual brands, reports suggest that the dieting brand's sales have declined over the last few years.

Unilever had yet to respond to The Drum’s request for comment at the time of writing.
