Network Warrington has engaged Young to create an advert helping to promote its new Midas Card.

Drawing inspiration from Warrington’s Golden Gates as the back story the ad features a king Midas character, who one day locks eyes with a beautiful girl sat on the bus. Each day the king encounters a different mishap which prevents him from boarding the bus.

Described by Warrington Borough Transport marketing executive Natalie Kissak as “fun and engaging”, the tongue-in-cheek antics are used to convey the benefits of using the Midas card as the king struggles to get to his girl.

Pete Jarvis, creative director at Young, commented: “After coming up with the ‘tragic love story’ concept, we immediately knew that we were going for an ‘American 50’s cartoon feel’. We looked through our database of illustration partners and immediately knew that Peter Donnelly was the right man for the job.”
