Dewar's Highlander Honey is celebrating the craft of one of its most important partners in the blending process - honey bees.

The 3-B Printing Project, conceived by Sid Lee NY and produced by the Ebeling Group, lets Dewar's drinkers in on the process that goes into crafting each bottle, the distinct fusion of Dewar's White Label blended scotch whisky with hand-selected Scottish honey and other natural flavours.

3-B printing - a twist on 3-D printing - fuses digital printing with nature employing bees to build sculptural works of art. The 3-B printing project provides 80,000 honey bees with a starter blueprint integrating scientific expertise with digital design.

The inverted beehive is moulded to guide the bees to create their honeycomb hive around the framework, as the bee's cover their home with the golden honeycomb they create a striking, multi-dimensional masterpiece of custom-shaped moulds inspired by Dewar's Highlander Honey. So far the bee's have printed a complete 3D whisky bottle and the bust of Dewar's Drinking Man.

A 60" web video introduces the project featuring artist/engineer James rendering a sketch of the structure and suited-up master beekeeper Robin facilitating the project, before the bees flood the enclosure to begin the work.

"We've developed a reputation for taking on never-been-done-before projects. And that's why this particular project was such a challenge, but so much fun," remarked The Ebeling Group's Mick Ebeling.
