To engage with native Spanish-speakers Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has launched a Spanish language version of its official website.

Launching ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Spanish site is complemented by a new all-Spanish Twitter feed (@McLarenF1es) that will replicate the activity of the team's official Twitter account.

“We are committed to telling our story in the most accessible and dynamic ways possible – this means fully exploiting the web and actively engaging in social media,” said Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team principle Martin Whitmarsh.

The Spanish language site is the latest step in the team’s digital strategy which aims to provide unique and engaging content to fans worldwide. The website and Twitter feed follows the signing of Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez which has caused uplift in interest from Mexico and the Hispanic population of the USA.

Perez commented: “I’m passionate about all my fans around the world, but I’m particularly fond of the people from my home in Mexico, and in Central America. Using the web and social media is all about getting closer to the fans, which is why my website is available in Spanish and English. I also Tweet in both languages, too. For the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes official website to now be available in Spanish is fantastic news for the millions of Spanish-speakers who follow Formula 1. I’ll definitely be following @McLarenF1es on Twitter, too.”

Whitmarsh added: “Checo’s arrival has clearly brought with it a significant spike in interest from Mexico, Central America and millions of native Spanish-speakers around the world. Clearly, it felt right to reflect that by increasing our web and social presence with a dedicated service in Spanish – which now complements the Spanish version of our innovative McLaren LIVE data-streaming portal, which has been running since the start of the season.

"Checo has very quickly become a key part of our team, and it is fantastic news for his fans, and Spanish-speaking F1 fans in general.”
