Tennent’s Lager is celebrating Glasgow’s – shall we say – more modest transport system staging its own ‘Race the Tube’ challenge.

You may remember a few weeks back a plucky Londoner took part in a race against time to beat the London Underground, leaving the train at Mansion House, running to Cannon Street to get back onto the same train.

Amassing over 5 million views since its upload the video has sparked a string of copycats but nothing quite as amusing as the Glasgow version here from Tennent’s.

Of the challenge, Paul Condron, marketing director at Tennent Caledonian Breweries, said: “With all the hype and social media noise around the current #RaceTheTube phenomenon, we started to wonder what it might look like if someone done the same thing in Glasgow. Then we started laughing. There are underground stops in the city that you could practically walk between and still catch the same tube before it came around again... And if you did miss it, you'd never be waiting that long before the same train comes around again. That's the unique charm of the Clockwork Orange. The same two trains go round and round on a loop.

“So why rush it, we thought? Nothing better than an afternoon meander around Glasgow's west end now is there - soaking up some of the city's quintessential charms - water painting in the Botanics, a bag of chips for lunch, a new fake tan and, of course, a pint or two of Tennent's Lager. ..”
