Wildlife rangers in Australia got more than they bargained for after installing a video camera in a remote corner of the Australian outback to record crocodiles, after it was snapped up by an inquisitive Sea Eagle who proceeded to loft it airborne and lug it across country.

Aboriginal rangers, baffled by the sensors absence, had assumed that it had simply washed away in a nearby river but were startled when the equipment turned up several weeks later – 70 miles away.

Footage recovered from the device included three 30 second clips of the Eagle in flight across coastlines and riverbanks before it was eventually discarded.

Ranger Roneel Skein remarked: “It was pretty amazingbecause it’s one of the first camera traps to ever get picked up.”
