Brazilian language school Red Balloon is teaching its eight-13 year old pupils English by correcting celebrities’ grammar on Twitter.

Teachers became worried that those still learning the proper use of formal English were getting confused when celebrities they followed on Twitter used the language colloquially or with improper spelling and grammar.

An experiment, ‘Celeb Grammar Cops’ was set up enabling the pupils to learn English by reviewing what their favourite celebrities were writing and then correcting them via the school’s official Twitter account (@RedBalloon).

Celebrities caught out by the pupils include Rihanna, John Cusack, Fergie, Charlie Sheen and Miley Cyrus among others.
