Out with the old (media) and in with the new as Yahoo! moves into New York Times building
Yahoo has taken over the old New York Times building in Manhattan as it forges ahead with its expansion plans.
The company currently has about 500 employees in three buildings across New York City, but CEO Marissa Mayer said it expected to expand its work force in the city to 700 within the next couple of years.
According to the New York Times, Yahoo is planning to erect a large illuminated sign bearing its name, in the same place where The Times once had its own.
The announcement of the move came at the same time Yahoo confirmed a $1.1bn deal to acquire Tumblr. The photo sharing site has 175 employees working from the nearby Flatiron building.
