Created by Dude London, the spot tells the tale of a blossoming bromance between the mysterious forest monster and a backpacker.

Trainline’s latest ad is a heartwarming tale of a backpacker who stumbles upon an intriguing – and huge – creature living in the woods. Their connection is instant and the two end up striking up an unlikely but enduring friendship.

‘New Friendships’ is launching in Italy as part of the travel app’s ‘Great Journeys Start With Trainline’ campaign.

“How you start your trips can significantly affect how they unfold, so when it came to bringing ‘Great Journeys Start With Trainline‘ to life in one of our most European markets, we wanted to create a campaign that shows how a great and effortless start to your trips can lead to amazing, wonderful and limitless possibilities,” said Jo McClintock, vice-president of brand and marketing at Trainline.

“This new brand platform marks our first step in reinforcing ourselves as an integral part of people’s booking moments, owning the start of their journeys, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

To coincide with the film, digital out-of-home ads will run from November 26 in Rome and Milan, with a second burst of activity later in the year. Media was handled by Wavemaker.

Tomás Gianelli O’Ryan, creative director at Dude London, added: “Bringing Trainline’s new brand platform to life was a big and exciting challenge. We had a beautiful script, a great client who believed in it, and an extremely talented director.

”But despite all this, we still feel like the stars must have magically aligned to give this story that extra something that makes it really special (who doesn’t want to give a big hug to that monster?) And the best part is, this is just the start of a great journey, and we are very excited for what’s to come.”
