‘Built Different’ highlights the people who can turn waste into wonder.

The retailer’s latest UK campaign pays homage to the range of passionate DIYers on its platform, who use the site to repair, build and upcycle the vehicles they love.

In recent years, Ebay has made a significant effort to amplify its sustainability, highlighting the potential of its platform for those searching for secondhand and pre-loved items – most notably in the fashion space. This year it is the headline sponsor for ITV2’s summer mainstay program Love Island.

However, ‘Built Different’ is aimed at motor enthusiasts, encouraging them to use Ebay to fuel their passion, whether it’s fixing up cars or building classic motorbikes.

The campaign promoting its Parts & Accessories vertical was created by agency Dept and produced by Prettybird. As Bel Moretti, creative director at Dept explains: “Our Ebay campaign was inspired by actual platform stories – big and small. It’s no secret that we have become a little complacent when looking after what we have. So it felt like the perfect time to celebrate the ones that do and hopefully inspire the ones that could.”

The spots are now live across the UK, including in cinemas, TV, video on demand, a full digital and social campaign, and on-site. This Summer, Ebay is also notably sponsoring some of the critical motorsports events in the UK, including British Super Bikes, the British Motor Show, German Car Fest, Pistonheads, JapFest, Ford Fair and Goodwood Festival of Speed.
