With the Super Bowl right around the corner, NBA player Blake Griffin tries his hand at writing a lunch note in a new Daily Harvest ad.

In an ad for healthy meal delivery service Daily Harvest, Blake Griffin wants consumers to feel the same warm feeling he felt as a child when his mother would pack him a healthy lunch and a thoughtful note.

In the ad, Griffin sets out to write his own personal note for Daily Harvest customers, as the brand prides itself on creating meals replete with fruits and vegetables.

Although Griffin has the best intentions, the outcome of his note is somewhat humbling. His note begins: “You may not be a 6’9” professional basketball player with the deltoids of a marble statue – but you do have a convenient, wholesome meal with a sweet potato, wild rice, hash Harvest bowl – and isn’t that just as tasty?“

Two takeaways can be made from the ad: first, Daily Harvest’s products boast the same quality as a home-cooked meal. Second, Griffin would be best suited to stick with his basketball career instead of writing.

The spot was ideated and developed by Maximum Effort, a digital marketing agency co-founded by Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey.
