One of the major festivals celebrated by Hindu, Jain and Sikh people, Diwali – or the festival of lights – falls on October 24 this year.

Here, we take a look at some of the best brand campaigns from around the world that celebrate the spirit of the occasion.

Cadbury: Support the Hawkers Near You by Ogilvy India

In this bright and bustling ad, Cadbury shines a light on hawkers who are so central to Diwali, but who often lose business due to the lack of a permanent shop. To help, the chocolate maker has created an online shop where the sellers can promote their goods.

Coca-Cola: Follow the Bottle by Ogilvy India

This uplifting ad features a young man working alone late at night when, surprisingly, he sees a Coca-Cola bottle attached to a red ribbon on the office floor. He grabs a hold and follows the ribbon until he arrives at a Diwali party where he can celebrate the festival with the people he loves rather than being alone.

Tanishq Jewellery: Pehli Diwali by Lowe Lintas

Jewelry brand Tanishq is celebrating new beginnings this year. At the heart of the campaign is a TV spot where a husband gifts his wife Tanishq jewelry on Diwali to congratulate her on her startup.

Dell: Apna Wala Festival by VMLY&R

This Dell spot features a young man watching a video on his laptop about how to make sweets when he suddenly gets a text from his friend Rohini, which reads: “See you in the evening. Bringing Diya too.” Later that night, he opens the door to his friend Rohini with her daughter, whom he serves the sweets to and impresses.

Tilda: Heartbeat by Isobel

Music and food are great ways to learn about new cultures and this upbeat ad from Tilda showcases its rice products while positioning them at the heart of kitchens throughout the world. The campaign features a collection of drummers and drumbeats, including the Persian Daf, the Indian Tabla and the Afro-Cuban Conga, with rice dishes matching the music styles.
