ITV ‘no interest’ in bidding for Big Brother and Peaky Blinders studio Endemol Shine Group
ITV has ruled itself out of bidding for up-for-sale Dutch production company Endemol Shine.
ITV has issued a denial that it will be bidding for the company
The scripted production house behind the likes of Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Benidorm, Big Brother, Broadchurch, Humans and Masterchef has been the point of speculation over the last few weeks over a potential acquisition form one of the major broadcasters.
All3Media, backed by Liberty Global, and Banijay, a French production company backed by Vivendi, are both still reportedly in the race for the £3bn company.
The Times had previously sparked speculation that ITV was lining up a bid as a bold signal from newly appointed chief executive, former easyJet chief Dame Carolyn McCall.
But formally distancing itself from such reports, ITV today issued a statement saying: "In light of continued press speculation, ITV confirms that it has no current intention of making a bid for Endemol Shine Group."
Endemol Shine is being sold by private equity firm Apollo and 21st Century Fox after making an operating loss of €21m (£18.7m) last year.
