Freytag Anderson and Studio MB have snapped up the top accolades at The Scottish Design Awards, the Chair Award, Agency of the Year and the Grand Prix respectively.
Edinburgh based design consultancy, Studio MB took home the design Grand Prix for it’s collaboration with Triumph Motorcycles on the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience.
Chairperson and head of design at TBWA\Manchester, Danny Bickerton said: “The Grand Prix goes to a project so eye-catching and engaging. Typographically it’s very strong. Somewhere I could visit and enjoy. It’s everything you’d want as a bike enthusiast. It’s a visual experience with volume, layers and continuity, all really well executed.”
Freytag Anderson not only won the chair’s award, but took the accolade for two pieces of work, Up Front Brewing and the HAUS rebrand, as well as design agency of the year. Bickerton loved more than one of their project so much that he couldn’t have given just one award. On Up Front and Brewing, he said: "A beautiful use of illustration to tell a story. Great merch pushes it to the front of a very crowded market. Everything about it is fab.
“I would have loved to have done this myself. It’s lovely and tactile and a stand-out on the shelf. Fucking brilliant."
Talking about the Haus rebrand, he commented: “So flexible and consistent, a joy. You can see the animation morph across different categories”
This year 44 awards and commendations were handed out to 76 nominees chosen from amongst 126 entries by the judging panel. A full list of winning work can be found here.
