The campaign, titled 'The Drive Home', showcases a how a teenager is visiting his grandfather (Ah Gong in Singlish) in Singapore after having lived and studied in Australia. At first, both share a strained conversation where the teenager calls everything about his trip as 'lame' to his father.

His grandfather accidentally hears him speak with his father and then tells him that he requested his father to reschedule his ticket to leave on the same day. However, before that he requests his grandson to go around the city to kill time. During the trip, he takes his grandson to places he would have taken him when he was a kid.

The time spent together makes the teenager realise the value of his grandfather and the city. He ultimately decides to stay back for the National Day and help his grandfather with putting up the flag and celebrating it.

'The Drive Home' is a collaboration between Singtel, AKANGA films and filmmaker K. Rajagopal. It will air on Singtel TV and social media platforms from today (12 July) until 13 August 2018.

Lian Pek, vice president for group strategic communications and brand at Singtel, said: “The film puts the spotlight on the significance of National Day and by extension, the definition of home. What defines home for Singaporeans and how does one generation pass on their love of country and home to the next? These are questions we try to tackle through a simple tale about how a grandfather yearns to see his grandson share his sense of patriotism and national pride.”
