People on the move featuring AB InBev, Leo Burnett, Elle, Channel 4 and more

This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Leo Burnett

Craig Neilson has joined Leo Burnett as head of creative production and operations.

Joining from McCann London where he held the position of head of project management, Neilson has also worked as joint head of creative production at Adam&Eve/DDB.

AB InBev

AB InBev has announced that Tatiana Stadukhina, Stella Artois brand director for Europe, has been appointed as the new marketing director for AB InBev UK and Ireland.

Stadukhina, who has been with AB InBev for three years and has held roles in New York and Europe, including director of global innovations, will be responsible for the strategic and creative direction of AB InBev’s brands across the region.

Prior to joining to AB InBev, she worked in marketing for Unilever, including its Shopper Marketing trade division, and completed an MBA in Business at Harvard Business School.

Elle

Elle's deputy editor Lotte Jeffs has departed the magazine following the appointment of new editor Anne-Marie Curtis.

Jeffs was employed by Hearst’s fashion flagship Elle in July 2015 and was made acting editor-in-chief in November last year for its UK edition following Lorraine Candy’s jump to the newspaper industry as luxury content director for the Sunday Times, and editor-in-chief of its fashion supplement Style.

Burberry

Burberry has announced that its longtime creative designer, Christopher Bailey, is departing after 17 years with the luxury brand.

The fashion brand said that Bailey will step down in March 2018 from the board but will continue to give support to the Burberry team, including new chief executive Marco Gobetti, until the end of 2018.

AppNexus

AppNexus has bolstered it's team with a number of senior hires including Nithya Das being appointed to the newly created position chief people and legal officer and Joshua Zeitz, who has joined as senior vice president of marketing and communications.

Also joining the team is Theresa Vu as senior vice president of engineering, Julie Kapsch as senior vice president of services and Andrew Rutledge as senior vice president of North American sales and account manager.

FCB Inferno

FCB Inferno has made two senior hires and one promotion to strengthen the team.

Joining the team is Guy Hobbs who will take on the role of senior creative and copywriter and Tom Molyneux who will take on the role of business director. Hobbs joined from Saatchi & Saatchi where he aquired two gold lions and one silver at Cannes Lions last year. Molyneux joins from Grey where he held the role of global account director after starting his career at MullenLowe.

In addition, Holly Loxely has been promoted from account director to managing partner after joining in 2011.

Who Wot Why

Matt Butterfield and Ben Mills have joined Who Wot Why from Saatchi & Saatchi as the agency's first permanent creative hirings.

The duo spent three years at Saatchi & Saatchi working for clients inlcuding Direct Line, Asda, Toyota and Visa to name a few.

Delightful Media

Delightful Media, the media company specialising in food and drink, has appointed Robert Marsh as managing director. In the role Marsh will work directly with founder and creative director Jonathan Almond.

Marsh brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked for 20 years in digital media at organisations such as Channel 4, where he was new media commissioner, and FremantleMedia, where he ran the UK digital business.

Taptica

Taptica (AIM: TAP), has announced the appointment of Ofer Druker as executive chairman of Tremor Video DSP.

Based in New York, Druker will work with Taptica’s chief executive to focus on the Group’s M&A strategy and growth.

Vice Media

Lucy Delacherois-Day is joining Vice Media to take up the newly created role of commercial director of its fashion and luxury group to lead commercial operations for titles including i-D and Garage.

Delacherois-Day joins from Vogue where she was advertising director as part of her decade-long career at Conde Nast.

Dentsu Aegis

Dentsu Aegis Network has picked Motheradvertising group co-founder Stef Calcraft to serve as its executive chairman for the UK and Ireland with effect from January 2018.

Calcraft’s arrival heralds another step in Dentsu’s drive to become a fully digital business by 2020 with a renewed focus on data, creativity and content. Reporting directly to chief executive Giulio Malegori Calcraft he will be tasked with mobilizing talent across creativity, media, digital, data and content to leverage further growth.

Channel 4

Channel 4 has announced BBC Newsnight editor Ian Katz as the surprise choice to be its new director of programmes, effectively replacing the role held by former creative chief Jay Hunt who has since joined Apple TV’s European wing.

Katz, once deputy editor of the Guardian, has a firm grounding in the news scene but came from left field as a candidate for the vacant role which will include commissioning factual and scripted content.

APAC people on the move

PHD Hong Kong

PHD Hong Kong chief executive Ray Wong is stepping down after 25 years with Omnicom, with Clement Chung to assume his duties as managing director.

Wong will depart the role at the end of November with Chung, who is currently general manager of PHD Hong Kong, assuming the MD role and taking on Wong’s duties.

Chung has worked for Omnicom Group for more than two decades after joining in 1990 to run the planning department at DDB Hong Kong. Chung has worked closely with Wong to establish the PHD network in Hong Kong over the past 11 years.

USA People on the move

Edelman

Edelman has named industry, White House and government veteran Lisa Osborne Ross president of its Washington, DC office, effective November 13. Ross succeeds Rob Rehg, who now becomes chair of Edelman’s US Public Affairs practice.

Ross, a DC native, joins Edelman from APCO Worldwide where she was the managing director of its Washington, DC office. Earlier, Ross had a 15-year career at Ogilvy, culminating in her role as head of public affairs. Prior to that, she served in the first and second terms of the Clinton Administration, specializing in policy development and issues management.

Reach Entertainment

Reach Entertainment, an entertainment marketing agency, announced that former director, entertainment marketing at Anheuser-Busch Entertainment, Jimmy Holleran, has been named EVP at Reach Entertainment.

Holleran’s move elevates Reach Entertainment to branded entertainment agency of record with AB InBev.

Select World

Global beauty and fashion agency Select World has appointed Hans Dorsinville as chief creative officer of North America, marking the first time in over 25 years that the agency has filled the role. Based in New York, Dorsinville will co-manage that office with Sabrina Yu, managing director, NY.

Dorsinville comes to Select World from NY-based Laird + Partners, where he was Partner, executive vice president and senior group creative director since the agency’s inception in 2002.

Destination DC

Destination DC (DDC) has promoted Robin McClain to senior vice president of marketing and communications. McClain leads the team responsible for creative, advertising, social media, editorial, website and content creation for Washington, DC’s official destination marketing organization, charged with bringing more business and leisure travelers to the nation’s capital.

McClain joined DDC in May 2011 as director of communications and was promoted to vice president, marketing and communications in May 2013. Prior, she worked for the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board for several years as the senior director of media relations.

Here Be Dragons

Here Be Dragons, an experience studio, added three members to its team: Kamila Prokop and David Richards join as executive producers, with Ali Kazemi joining as general counsel, business affairs and legal.

Previously, Prokop co-founded Maven Label, a talent agency. Before joining the team at Here Be Dragons, Richards worked as an executive producer developing client and brand partnerships with companies such as Nike, Apple, Geico, Walmart, and more.

Gatesman

Privately-owned Pittsburgh-based agency Gatesman has named Karen McKinley executive vice president, chief creative officer in a move that reflects a shift in the industry to bring more female leadership to the top. McKinley will be charged with elevating the agency’s creative identity, enhancing client work and inspiring connectivity, innovation and collaboration across the agency’s Pittsburgh, Chicago and Springfield, Mo. offices

Her career spans two decades of experience at venerable big-brand agencies, boutique creative firms and digital shops. Most recently she was creative director at Made Movement in Boulder.
