The euphoria which engulfed Anfield last night after Liverpool FC's last gasp winner against Borussia Dortmund captivated Twitter and has since emerged as the most tweeted about moment in a UK event so far this year.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side staged one of the most enthralling comebacks in recent memory when Dejan Lovren scored an injury time winner to secure a 4-3 victory that will go down in history as one of the most incredibly exciting football matches football ever witnessed.

The dramatics of the occasion quickly swept over onto social media and marked the most-tweeted about moment in a UK event so far this year, with a peak of 56,000 tweets per minute.

Overall last night’s match saw more than 2 million tweets and was the top trending topic on Twitter worldwide.
