Digital marketing agency Caliber has called on its industry to introduce more internships as the battle for fresh talent becomes more intense than ever.

Caliber's head of marketing, Alyson Pearson.

With the closing date for applications to Caliber’s own paid summer internship programmes in London and Edinburgh drawing near (on Thursday 21 April) the agency’s head of marketing, Alyson Pearson, said: “Internships are a recognised way to get your foot in the door in this highly competitive industry. At Caliber, we offer a positive working environment, mentorship, opportunities to take ownership of tasks and some fun after work too. Above all, a Caliber internship provides valuable insight into the digital skills that are essential in today’s job market.

“We need to recoginise as an industry that what we do is not always clear to graduates considering their career options. The digital sector has been the fastest growing sector for jobs in this country for some time. However, it can be tricky to navigate the different types opportunities on offer if you are new to the industry. SEO really acts as an umbrella term for a whole range of digital skills needed to improve the digital presence of brands.”

Caliber’s summer internship programme offers hands-on experience in a range of marketing and business disciplines, including content marketing, web design, web development, copywriting, HR, office admin and business development.
