National Express Coach has appointed independent creative agency One Black Bear following a competitive pitch.

One Black Bear's co-founders Richard Elwell and Jon Harrison.

The Birmingham-based agency had previously devised campaigns for National Express on a project basis, but has now been retained as lead creative agency in close partnership with social media agency, Shadow Giants, media partner, Havas and direct agency AIS.

Discussing the appointment, Sean Bailey, head of marketing at National Express Coach, said: “The team at One Black Bear have responded to some challenging briefs with pace and purpose and we look forward to a successful 2016 together.”

Richard Elwell, partner at One Black Bear partner, said of the appointment: “National Express went through the process of finding a suitable creative agency diligently and we’re glad to say we stepped up to the challenge and won their respect and trust. Working with them feels like a genuine partnership, which is a rarity these days, and such a relationship only spawns better thinking and greater work. The win also coincides with us bolstering and broadening our integrated offer via more senior planning and creative resource – all geared to delivering campaigns across every channel, not just digital.”

Founded in 2003, One Black Bear works with clients including Lotus Cars, youth homelessness charity St. Basils, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Marketing Birmingham.
