The Sundance Film Festival has unveiled its visual brand identity for 2016 which aims to highlight the festival's ties to storytelling.

Created by Mother New York the work includes the festival logo, colour palette and typography, as well as digital and print assets, signage, and merchandise. The graphics are also extended to animated pieces that play before each festival screening.

“Inspired by the creative and cultural impact of the Festival’s films and filmmakers, this year’s identity uses a series of graphic gestures to capture the Festival as a platform for fearless storytelling, new ideas, and diversity in film," said Yego Moravia, design director, Mother New York.

"This palette of light gestures travels throughout the system to activate and signal the start of the creative calendar."

This is the second consecutive year that Mother has produced the creative identity for the festival.

The Sundance Film Festival will run from 21-31January 2016 in Park City, Utah.
