Manchester City's 'new badge' reported to have been accidentally leaked
Manchester City’s new badge has reportedly been leaked by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) ahead of its official release.
The Premier League club had intended to unveil the new crest on Boxing Day however the IPO published what appears to be the new design on its website, listing 22 December as the date it was filed.
The page also contains links to other recently registered Manchester City trademarks including another design which was filed on the same day, as well as the revered 1970s badge, which City trademarked in September.
City’s decision to drop the current club badge follows a consultation with supports in September over a potential change to the current badge.
Many fans expressed a desire to return to the old crest, the circular badge containing the Mancunian ship symbol plus the red rose of Lancashire, and the leaked design appears to show just that.
While no confirmation has been given as to whether the design is indeed the new official badge, fans have already taken to Twitter to express their opinions.
I really hope this isn't our new badge. It's poor on so many levels #MCFC pic.twitter.com/k3tKieg2eR

Surely the new badge should have the words "Manchester City Football Club" on but besides that I'm loving it #mcfc pic.twitter.com/iWHNRNfvdx — Darren Page (@pagiemcfc) December 23, 2015
