Barneys New York is supporting the UN's International Day of the Girl (IDG) this Sunday (11 October) with a social media and in store campaign to help raise awareness of the issues surrounding girls.

The US department store has teamed with The Girls Lounge, which creates female-focused spaces at male-dominated industry conferences, for the campaign, and is asking the public to finish the sentence “Anything is possible when..." before taking a picture and uploading it to social media with the hashtag #GirlPossible. Meanwhile in store it will dedicate its window displays across the country to the campaign.

Shelley Zalis, founder of The Girls Lounge said she hopes the campaign will generate conversation. "We’re bringing visibility to women making a difference around the world, helping to ensure that girls get an education and feel empowered. We also want to transform the gender equality conversation from a female issue to a social and economic issue that we all have to solve together.”

Now in it's second year DG has been designed to raise awareness about education, empowerment, and equality for girls globally.
